A day after defeating unbeaten Zumbrota-Mazeppa, the Ramblers crushed visiting Byron 9-0 on Wednesday.
Laura Erickson and Whitney Wisecup were a big reason why. Erickson highlighted a five-run fourth inning with, perhaps, the longest home run ever hit at Cotter.
Erickson crushed a three-run homer to center field.
Wisecup, who was 2-for-3 with an RBI, pitched seven strong innings, giving up just three hits and no walks. The junior struck out eight.
Jenny Gilbertson was 2-for-4 and Miceala Trainor was 2-for-3 with a pair of RBIs for Cotter (8-2, 7-0), which has won four in a row.

ALMA CENTER, Wis. — Annette Foegen sparked Cochrane-Fountain City with a huge defensive play on Tuesday.
After a Lincoln triple in a 1-1 game in the sixth, Annette Foegen gunned down the potential go-ahead run at the plate from right after a flyout.
C-FC’s bats then came to life in the seventh with a six-hit, six-run inning highlighted by a two-run triple from Anne Drazkowski, who was 3-for-4.

ST. CHARLES, Minn. — Brad Kohn struck out 12 and walked just one in the complete-game, six-hit win over Dover-Eyota.
St. Charles scored all three of its runs in the third, getting three consecutive singles to start the inning, including an RBI single by Brent Kraut, who along with Jared Seinola had two hits.
Matt Ellinghuysen followed with a bases-loaded walk and Matt Putzier layed down a successful suicide squeeze.

RUSHFORD, Minn. — Parker Brand went 3-for-4 with a double, a home run and three RBIs in Game 2 of the doubleheader to lead Rushford-Peterson, which surrendered two walks and committed five errors in Southland’s eight-run fifth inning in the opener.
Reid Erickson had two doubles in Game 2, and Brian Eggert went 2-for-4 with an RBI on the day for R-P.

RED WING, Minn. — William Leaf shot a seven-over-par 78 and finished in fourth place to lead Winona Senior High School to an eighth-place finish out of nine teams at Mississippi National.

AUSTIN, Minn. — Hannah Stoltman took first place in the pole vault with a 9-foot, 6-inch height on Tuesday for the Winona girls track team.
Winona placed second at the triangular with 58 points. Owatonna won with 115.
Chari Lehnertz won the discus for WSHS (119-2½) and took second in the shot put (39-4).
Claire Guidinger took second in the 1,600-meter (5:26.47) and helped the 4x800 relay take first (10:12.03). Also on that relay were Emma Larson, Kristin Resch and Kayla Ewert.
The WSHS 4x100 relay also won (53.11). That team was made up of Bethany Johnson, Aixa Evenson, Alli Martin and Bailey Biggerstaff.
