Seeing things from a different viewpoint

I stay at home and wait patiently for the family to return every day. I am usually right in the middle of whatever they are doing. I help the kids with homework. I help Mom whenever there is food around. I stand on my own four legs and my dark brown coat glistens if the sun comes through the windows. I can tolerate hot and cold. I always like the feeling that I am the center of attention. Sometimes I’m a glutton for punishment, but I don’t mind.
