Police blotter for April 17, 2008

Winona

March 28
2:16 a.m. — An employee at Schniepp’s Bar on East Sanborn Street reported a window broken on the front of the building. After an investigation, police were unable to contact Brett John Dennis, 21, of Winona, so they mailed him a citation for damage to property. The window cost $414.14 to replace.

April 8

3:20 p.m. — A 19-year-old Winona woman reported her Winona State University-issued Macintosh iBook 2.0 laptop either lost or stolen sometime between March 16 and April 8. She said she left the computer at a friend’s apartment somewhere on Chestnut Street between Fifth Street and Broadway but couldn’t remember which apartment it was. No value was given for the laptop, and police have no suspects.

Monday

6:12 p.m. — Four Winona boys were cited for theft by shoplifting after trying to steal a pellet gun and ammunition worth $44.99 from Shopko. The boys ranged in age from 10 to 14.

Tuesday

3:35 p.m. — Police were called to the Family and Children’s Center in response to an assault. According to staff members, a 13-year-old Winona boy got angry over a broken pencil sharpener. He smashed a computer keyboard, damaged a garbage can and tried to punch a staff member. The boy was cited for misdemeanor assault and damage to property and was released to a parent.

Wednesday

1:16 a.m. — A 28-year-old man reported a window broken out on his residence in the 650 block of West Fourth Street. According to police, an acquaintance saw a person lurking around the house about 11 p.m. on Tuesday night, but the person could not be located. The man heard a window break a couple of hours later and saw a person standing at the front door. When police arrived, they could not find the individual.
