Published - Wednesday, April 16, 2008 Police For Wednesday, April 16, 2008 Winona Friday 5:18 p.m. — A woman reported her car was broken into in the 550 block of Cottonwood Drive. The rear window of her Honda Accord was smashed and a purse was stolen. The woman said the purse contained a checkbook, credit cards, $25 cash and possibly a diamond ring. No value was given on the ring, and police are continuing to investigate. Saturday 10:34 a.m. — A man reported his van stolen from the 2000 block of Goodview Road sometime between Wednesday and Friday. The van was unlocked, and the keys were inside. The van was recovered at about 12:15 p.m. in the Hidden Valley Mobile Home Village in Minnesota City. The front seats were cut open and burnt newspaper was stuffed inside. Police suspect the thief tried to set it on fire. Police have no suspects but continue to investigate. 10:39 p.m. — An officer on foot patrol in the 400 block of Harriet Street spoke to a man leaving a party. Brandon Lee Pedersen, 19, of Amery, Wis., was cited for underage drinking. Sunday 12:06 a.m. — An officer on foot patrol observed a man walking toward him with a beer in his hand in the area of Sanborn and Harriet streets. John Michael Brady, 19, of Prior Lake, Minn., was cited for underage drinking and released. Winona County Sunday 3:33 a.m. — Deputies observed a black Toyota weaving and driving over the centerline on County Road 33 just south of U.S. Highway 14 in Utica, Minn. Jose Razo Hernandez, 24, of St. Charles, Minn., was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving, giving officers a false name, possession of drug paraphernalia, no proof of insurance and no driver’s license. He is being held in jail in lieu of $5,000 bail and faces several driving violations from May 2007 and February 2008.
