Heather Ann Dulek, 29, was later arrested and charged with two counts of felony burglary. She made her first appearance Monday morning in Winona County District Court.
Police were called to a residence on Runaway Drive in Dakota at 11:06 p.m. Friday.
According to the police report, a couple reported missing a few prescription pills from their unlocked home from time to time over the past few weeks. They became suspicious and set up a “deer cam” in their bedroom that would take a picture when it sensed movement in the room.
According to police, the victims counted 10 acetaminophen-with-codeine tablets in a bottle on their nightstand Friday morning. When they came home from work that evening, there were only seven pills left and the camera had taken a snapshot. The Winona County Sheriff’s Department used a copy of the photo to track down and arrest Dulek, said Chief Deputy Ron Ganrude.
Dulek is currently on probation in La Crosse County, Wis., on two charges of obtaining prescription drugs by fraud in July 2006 and could now face charges of violating that probation.
Bail was set for Dulek at $20,000, or $5,000 with conditions that include she stay away from the victims’ house and not consume any alcohol or drugs while released. She is scheduled to return to court April 17.
