2:59 a.m. — Police were dispatched to the Freedom gas station, 217 Johnson St., on a report of someone stealing a bundle of wood. Upon arrival, Aaron Paul Rykhus, 23, of Waseca, Minn., admitted taking the bundle worth $4.49 for a camping trip this weekend. He was cited for theft and released.

3:26 p.m. — A 53-year-old man reported damage to his house on Whitten Street. The house is being stored on blocks on a vacant lot, waiting to be moved to Stockton to replace a home there damaged by the August floods. The man reported broken windows, a smashed mirror, a ceiling fan torn off in the kitchen and damage to a faucet, cupboards, ductwork and fixtures. Police are waiting for damage estimates and have no suspects.

6:43 p.m. — Police were called to the Draught Haus bar on East Third Street on a report of a theft. The owner said he was missing $1,400 from a pull tab box and others interviewed on the scene said a man working there earlier had taken the cash. Police issued an attempt-to-locate alert, and the 24-year-old Winonan was found near Sparta, Wis., by the Wisconsin State Patrol. He was taken into custody at 9:03 p.m. and police recovered $145. The man has not yet been charged and police are investigating where the money went.

The 19-year-old Winona man was referred to the county attorney’s office for charges of gross misdemeanor drunken driving, fleeing on foot, possession of a small amount of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, underage possession of alcohol, stop sign violation and possession of another person’s ID. The man had a blood-alcohol concentration of 0.20 percent. He has since been released from jail.
