Area man accused of sex with 15-year-old

.
A Lewiston man appeared in Winona County District Court on Thursday to face two charges of criminal sexual conduct with a 15-year-old girl.

Anthony Jermaine McCoy, 23, faces a maximum penalty of 15 years in prison if convicted on the charges, which allege he used force to initiate sexual contact in October 2007.
Appearing after being mailed a summons, McCoy was released on his own recognizance with conditions he not have contact with the alleged victim or unsupervised contact with girls younger than 18.

According to a criminal complaint filed March 5, the victim told investigators the incident happened about the time of her 15th birthday. She said she was at a residence with McCoy and three other men. One of those men said he saw McCoy drag the girl into the basement while she struggled to pull away.

The girl told investigators she initially resisted but relented out of fear.

The witness said they were in the basement for about 11/2 hours before the girl came upstairs, crying and leaving the house, according to the complaint.

McCoy faces other charges, including domestic assault, trespassing, possession of a small amount of marijuana and child endangerment for allegedly leaving a 4-year-old home alone on several occasions between September and November 2007.

" Jackson,
That's in the perfect world my friend, unfortunately, our dreaming will not bring these types of people in Lewiston/St Charles to justice...

For now, I'll have to hope and pray they catch those creeps in these towns. "

" I meant "go somewhere." It is Friday yet? "

jackson wrote on Mar 31, 2008 2:53 PM:

" I truly wished we could catch and jail all these people who think they can have what they want, when they want. Wouldn't this world be a whole lot better place to live in without crime. My parents always told me how they could go somewhat, leave their house unlocked and not worry about anything. Boy, those were the days. It just keeps getting worse. Well, have a good day and just keep your fingers crossed we get no snow. Rochester got over an inch of it. "

WSUGrad07' wrote on Mar 31, 2008 2:30 PM:

" First off, amen to the no snow, whew!

I love the Oasis too. I enjoy eating there and taking my grandparents there. If A&W was actually a root-beer stand, I don't know the Oasis would compete...amen to that too!

I'm not blaming the whole city, I'm just looking at the overall picture here. It just seems odd that a small town has so many of these incidents happening. Maybe Winona needs to crack down a bit more, like the Home of the Saints and the Oasis do! "

" Good grief. She didn't "snap off that babies leg." Brailey walks just fine. Yes, the daycare provider admitted her guilt and is serving her time. Back off, I didn't say anything negative about the oasis did I? Just questioning why you are so vocal about it. I like eating there and they have the best ice cream around, beats Dairy Queen. So, can we get off the subject now of what goes on in this town? Everyone has their idiots, and sometimes it takes awhile for them to get caught. I am all for punishing them for the crimes they commit. I am not trying to defend anyone, just don't blame an entire city for their stupidity. Does that make sense? Anyway, have a good day and aren't you glad we didn't get more snow? "

WSUGrad07' wrote on Mar 31, 2008 2:07 PM:

" As I mentioned, and agreed with you nonetheless, Winona has their fair share of odd-balls too. But, don't you find it kind of odd that, your proud "little town" has these things happening every week?

Don't even get me started with the crazy baby-sitter lady that snapped off that poor baby's legs or whatever in St. Charles...

And another thing...don't mess with the Oasis. "

Jackson wrote on Mar 31, 2008 1:26 PM:

" What is up with you and the Oasis anyway? "

Jackson wrote on Mar 31, 2008 1:24 PM:

" No, I do not live in the outskirts, I am right smack in the middle of town. Okay, no pervs or homs invasion robbers, or drunks running from the cops, or drug dealers, or people starting fights, etc., in Winona. Wow, from where I set, and from what I read and see, there are plenty of those in Winona. I love my little city, and I would take this over Winona any day of the year. Gee, didn't someone get raped with a beer can in Winona? HMMM, no pervs in Winona huh? "

WSUGrad07' wrote on Mar 31, 2008 11:20 AM:

" Do I live in St Charles, home of the area's finest pervs??? NO. Do I want to? NO.

I agree with you that every town as some odd-balls, but when every week there seems to be some sick-o with some minor over at their that involves sex with them out of St. Charles?

Finally...the town is getting better? What end of town do you live in... the outskirts of town do not count. If you live by the Oasis, that's good - that place rocks and is safe.... FOR NOW.

Only in St. Charles... "

jackson wrote on Mar 31, 2008 9:53 AM:

" WSUgrad, do you live in St. Charles? I didn't think so. There is a lot of good going on here as well. I can tell you I read more bad about Winona then I do St. Charles, so unless you have facts, you shouldn't judge us. I love my town, and you couldn't pay me to live in Winona or Rochester. Yeah, we have some idiots here, every town does. But, WE are not the idiots, we are the ones who respect our town and have been making improvements in it. This town has gotten a lot better in the last few years. Every town has their idiot(s). "

WSUGrad07' wrote on Mar 30, 2008 11:49 PM:

" Sorry for the type-o's... you made me mad with your lack of public knowledge/sense. "

WSUGrad07' wrote on Mar 30, 2008 11:48 PM:

" Hey... "Jackson"

I know it said Lewiston, but c'mon, Lewiston/St. Charles... close enough.

There's always something going down in St Charles whether it's some perv and some middle schoolers drinking beer at their plce, or someone loser beating up their wife. You can say what you want, but it's sad that St Charles is in the paper at least once a week with this kind of news for a town of what, 2k people? "

jackson wrote on Mar 29, 2008 8:02 PM:

" No, it says she was forced, so I doubt she said she was "18." "

jackson wrote on Mar 29, 2008 8:00 PM:

" Hey, WSU grad, this one was in LEWISTON. So your "only in St. Charles" statement doesn't work here. I am still trying to figure out how you graduated if you can't read the article the right way. This stuff happens all over, don't be judging my town! "

Me wrote on Mar 28, 2008 11:40 PM:

" Rusty, you need to re-read. After he appeared in court the judge made the condition that he not have contact with girls under 18. "

Sonny wrote on Mar 28, 2008 10:11 PM:

" The guy that saw something going on should be charged also. Why isn't there a charge of kidnapping here? There are a lot of unanswered questions here. "

rusty wrote on Mar 28, 2008 8:44 PM:

" Hmmm, She said she was 18... "

" To Redhead- Smoking pot in the great state of MN is a petty misdemeanor just like a speeding ticket. Having sex with a 15 year old is a felony. "

WSUGrad07' wrote on Mar 28, 2008 3:51 PM:

" Not to repeat myself here, but wow. This is getting a bit ridiculous in St Charles. Dateline NBC should really have a show there...it's really sad. "

WSUGrad07' wrote on Mar 28, 2008 3:09 PM:

" only in St. Charles...

Let's just hope nothing happens at or in the Oasis Drive-In. "

redhead wrote on Mar 28, 2008 3:07 PM:

" So this guy will probably get less time for rape or forceful sex with this 15 year old than the guy that wants to smoke some pot. What is wrong with this justice system? The guy smokin pot is only gonna hurt himself, the guy forcing the 15 year old, has probably ruined her for life. And the other guys in the house outta be paying too, for not helping this girl !! "

WSUGrad07' wrote on Mar 28, 2008 8:50 AM:

" Wow...is there something in the water in the Lewiston/ St.Charles area or what??!!!

This stuff is happening everyweek there!!! "

yarnivek wrote on Mar 28, 2008 12:22 AM:

" Are we seeing a lot more of these cases all of a sudden or are we just seeing stories about the same case over and over? If it's the former it seems to me there is a rather serious problem in this community. The latter would seem to indicate tabloid journalism. "
