Mark Thomas Lorisch, 33, learned that lesson the hard way Wednesday evening after police used a credit card receipt found in the refuse to track him down.
Officers responded to a call of a pile of garbage in the backyard of 223 E. King St. at about 5:30 p.m. According to the police report, a tenant living there left for work at 7 a.m. and the yard was clean. By 5 p.m., a pile of ink insulation, concrete, wood and a light fixture box cluttered the yard.
Digging through the trash, police found a credit card receipt with the name “Mark Lorisch” printed on it. When they spoke with Lorisch of Winona, he admitted to dumping the trash in the yard. He offered to clean up the mess, but the landlord of the property insisted on pressing charges. Lorisch was cited and released.
The garbage has since disappeared.
