Credit card receipt in trash pile leads police to suspect

.
When leaving a big pile of trash in someone else’s yard, it’s best to remove incriminating evidence from the rubbish before leaving. Especially if that evidence is your name.

Mark Thomas Lorisch, 33, learned that lesson the hard way Wednesday evening after police used a credit card receipt found in the refuse to track him down.
Officers responded to a call of a pile of garbage in the backyard of 223 E. King St. at about 5:30 p.m. According to the police report, a tenant living there left for work at 7 a.m. and the yard was clean. By 5 p.m., a pile of ink insulation, concrete, wood and a light fixture box cluttered the yard.

Digging through the trash, police found a credit card receipt with the name “Mark Lorisch” printed on it. When they spoke with Lorisch of Winona, he admitted to dumping the trash in the yard. He offered to clean up the mess, but the landlord of the property insisted on pressing charges. Lorisch was cited and released.

The garbage has since disappeared.

" PerfectStranger,
You are correct - however, he wanted to clean
it up. I just think there are more serious
crimes in our fair city . . .
have a good day

" Lorraine, this guy admitted DUMPING the stuff in the yard. The article leaves out as much as it tells us, but it sure looks like he did it deliberately, making the junk someone else's problem. Illegal dumping isn't a 'mistake', it is a crime. "

how refreshing - i guess that is why this
is considered news. "

" Actually, the receipt was found by the tenant, not the cops. Get the story straight! "
