Six candidates will compete for the title:
Barb Bruner, 18, Winona, daughter of Linda and James Bruner, sponsored by Merchants Bank, Winona.
Jennifer Hackbarth, 19, Houston, daughter of Jeff and Joanne Hackbarth, sponsored by AMPI.
Kaethelyn Orth, 17, Winona, daughter of Jim and Laurie Orth, sponsored by Luehmann’s IBA.
Emily Kammerer, 18, Winona, daughter of Lyle and Cynthia Kammerer, sponsored by Ag Specialist of St. Charles and Wilson Inc. (Big Gain Feeds).
Courtney Metz, 17, Rushford, daughter of Jeff and Mariann Metz, sponsored by Land O’ Lakes.
Breann Schossow, 18, daughter of Keith Schossow and Cindy Terrill, sponsored by Randy Erdman Trucking.
Candidates will be judged on communications skills, personalities, enthusiasm for dairy promotion and general knowledge of the dairy industry.
The dairy princess and five attendants will be named as well as Miss Congeniality. Three of the royalty will be eligible for a three-day dairy ambassador training session May 16-18 at St. Benedict College, St. Joseph, Minn.
After the training, 12 girls from around the state will be chosen to compete for Princess Kay of the Milky Way contest in August for the opening of the Minnesota State Fair.
