Hazel Willis Quinlan
Hazel Willis Quinlan, loving mother and “Nana,” died March 16, 2008, surrounded by three generations of family.
Predeceased by parents, John W. and Margaret (Wharton) Willis; husband, John H. Quinlan; and two daughters. Survived by children, Peggy (Tom) Gernes, Kathy (Danny) Eldredge, Hazel Mary, Howard (Shannon) and Nora (Doug) O’Leary; and grandchildren, Katie, Sairey, Tad, Ben, Meggie, Elizabeth, Molly, Catherine, Coco, Jack, Annie, Kathleen, Bear, Tom, Emily and Matt; and 10 great-grandchildren.
A lifelong resident of St. Paul and her beloved Madeline Island, with a stint in Winona, Hazel graduated from the Convent of the Visitation School and attended Mills College. Nana was indeed the matriarch of her loving family, as she provided inspiration and guidance to scores of people through her dignity, charm and courage. Family meant everything to her and we will always remember her counsel that “dust and laundry will always be there; live life and play with your children!”
A very special and heartfelt thanks to Jenny Morgan and her wonderful staff at Breck Home in Bloomington who provided so much tender and loving care.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday, March 21, at the Church of the Assumption, 51 W. Seventh St., St. Paul. Visitation at the church one hour prior to the start of Mass Friday. Memorials preferred to Convent of the Visitation School or Breck Home.
Arrangments: O’Halloran and Murphy Funeral Home, (651) 698-0796.
