David John Wnuk

Dec. 5, 1927 — March 5, 2008

ST. PAUL — David John Wnuk, 80, of St. Paul went home to his Lord on Wednesday, March 5, 2008, surrounded by family after a brief illness. Born Dec. 5, 1927, in Winona, David moved as a child to St. Paul, where he remained a resident for the rest of his life.

He was a member of the Cretin Class of 1945, remaining active as an alumnus. He attended St. Thomas College in St. Paul, receiving degrees in business administration and a master of education. David taught journalism and English at Harding High School, retiring after 32 years.

Along with his wife and family, David was an avid and adventurous traveler, having visited all seven continents. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, proudly serving during the Korean Conflict. David was an active and committed member of his faith communities. He was also proud of his polish heritage.

He was preceded in death by his parents, David Teofil and Gertrude (Lejk); a brother, Leonard; and a son, David Thomas. He is survived by beloved his wife of 50 years L. Rita (nee Maloney); daughters, Frances (Richard) Nelson of Stevens Point, Wis., Caroline of Blaine, Minn., and Claire (Robert) Berrett of Orono, Minn.; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; several cousins; special aunt and uncle, Eleanor (Wnuk) and Henry Peplinski; and countless friends.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Church of Nativity of Our Lord, Stanford at Prior, St. Paul. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today at Willwerscheid Funeral Home, 1167 Grand Ave., St. Paul, (651) 228-1006. Burial wil be at Calvary Cemetery, St. Paul.

Frank Rocco

Frank Rocco, 69, of Winona died Wednesday, March 5, 2008, at Community Memorial Hospital, Winona.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Pleasant Valley Church, Winona.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Fawcett-Junker Funeral Home, Winona, and one hour prior to the service Monday at the church. Burial in Woodlawn Cemetery, Winona.

Lantz S. Berg

STRUM, Wis. — Lantz S. Berg, 81, of Strum died Tuesday, March 4, 2008, at Crystal Lake Manor in Strum.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Strum. Burial will be at West Beef River Cemetery, rural Strum.

Visitation is Monday from 11:30 a.m. until the time of services at the church in Strum.

Kjentvet-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

John ‘Jack’ M. Sagen

John “Jack” M. Sagen, 80, died Thursday, March 6, 2008, at his home in Winona.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Cathedral of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Winona.

Visitation will be at Hoff Funeral and Cremation Service Hansen Goodview Chapel from

3 to 7 p.m. Sunday with a Christian prayer service at 7 p.m. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church Monday.

HOUSTON, Minn. — Nellie Summers, 93, of Houston died Thursday, March 6, 2008, at Valley View Nursing Home in Houston.

Everett E. Walde

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. — Everett E. Walde, 80, of Eau Claire died Tuesday, March 4, 2008, at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Eleva Lutheran Church in Eleva, Wis. Burial will be in Eleva Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Kjentvet-Smith Funeral Home in Eleva and one hour prior to services Tuesday at the church.

Martha T. Schumacher

Martha T. Schumacher, 101, of Winhaven Court, 104 Main St., Winona, died Wednesday, March 5, 2008, at Lake Winona Manor.

Private family services will be held at a later date.

At her request, her body has been donated to the Mayo Foundation.
