About 55 teachers in the C-FC Teachers Association are covered in a new union collective bargaining contract for the current school year and 2008-09.
Teacher salaries are figured on a pay schedule that offers increased pay for years of experience and educational achievement.
Total package cost of the 2007-08 contract is $3,677,399, up $141,479 from 2006-07. The average per-teacher increase was listed at $2,661.
C-FC Superintendent Mary Randall said the average teacher salary for the 2007-08 school year was $39,791.
Under the 2007-08 schedule, a teacher with a bachelor’s degree and no additional credits would make from $31,082 to $39,302 with up to 13 years experience.
Teachers with a master’s degree range from $33,871 to $47,320 at 17 years experience. The top pay rates for master’s plus 12 credits run from $34,901 to $49,650 at 17 years.
Listings for teachers with the most seniority for the 2008-09 school year range from $39,573 to $49,993.
The agreement calls for a 189-day annual work contract that includes 10 days of annual sick leave with a provision that allows use of two days a year in half-day increments for personal leave.
The contract includes health, life, dental and long-term disability insurance benefits. The district pays full cost of hospital and dental insurance coverage for family and single plans.
Starting in the 2008-09 school year, the plan includes an employee deductible for prescription drugs ranging from $5 to $25.
The cost of health insurance is now $1,526 per month for a teacher on a family plan; $674 for a single coverage plan. Dental insurance currently is $108 per month for a family plan.
Other sections of the contract agreement cover grievance procedures, working conditions, credit reimbursement for continuing education, retirement and early retirement, co-curricular pay and extra compensation for such things as chaperoning bus trips, summer employment and other added duties.
The district’s 38 support staff union employees received a contract settlement worth increases of 4.05 percent for 2007-08 and 3.98 percent in 2008-09.
The current agreement included salary schedule step increases and 28 cents per hour for hourly support staff and $1.75 per day for bus drivers.
