Pre-trial hearing set for Melrose man accused in burglary

Michael A. Ugo, 18, of Melrose, Wis., is scheduled to have a pre-trial hearing Feb. 27 on felony charges of being involved in a burglary and theft.

Ugo has pleaded not guilty. He’s accused of being involved in the theft of a safe from a house in the town of Gale on Sept. 28. A complaint says the safe contained $6,000 in cash. Legal documents that were inside the safe were destroyed, according to police reports.

The hearing will determine whether the case will proceed to a jury trial as scheduled for March 13 in circuit court at Whitehall, Wis.

  • Jane M. Pope, 43, of Osseo, Wis., is scheduled for a pre-trial hearing Feb. 27 on misdemeanor charges accusing her of battery, disorderly conduct and criminal trespass to a dwelling.

    Pope has pleaded not guilty and has a jury trial scheduled March 13. The offenses allegedly happened Oct. 19 in the town of Hale. A sheriff’s deputy dispatched to a residence was told that Pope punched a man in the face and threw items at him after he allegedly made derogatory remarks to her.

  • Darrell L. Schick, 39, of Whitehall, Wis., is charged with felony failure to comply with sex offender registration requirements.

    A pre-trial court conference is scheduled Feb. 13. Whitehall police said Schick failed to provide an accurate address of his whereabouts.

    A complaint says he moved to Whitehall and had his address listed as Independence, Wis. Police said they discovered the address violation when doing a background check of a bartender’s license application filed by Schick.

  • Jose Moreno Fermin, also known as Axel Omar Sanchez Perez, 20, formerly of Independence, Wis., is wanted on an arrest warrant to face charges of felony battery in Trempealeau County.

    A sheriff’s deputy dispatched to a residence in Arcadia, Wis., on June 17 was told Fermin beat up a woman and tried to strangle her.

    The woman was taken to a hospital emergency room, where she was treated for a broken nose.

  • Jason R. Herrmann, 26, of Chippewa Falls, Wis., was sentenced to one year on probation after pleading no contest to two charges of issuing worthless checks. Four other counts were dismissed. Herrmann was ordered to pay $612 restitution and $237 in court costs.

  • Steven P. Kaczorowski, 24, of Trempealeau, Wis., was fined $120.05 and had his driver’s license suspended for six months after pleading guilty to a charge of possessing marijuana Nov. 6 in the town of Trempealeau. A charge of possessing drug paraphernalia was dismissed.

  • Trevor D. Freismuth, 31, of Holmen, Wis., is scheduled to have a court conference Feb. 8 on a felony charge of failure to report to jail. A complaint says he failed to show up to begin serving a 90-day county jail sentence for disorderly conduct.

  • Wayne T. Minneker, 28, of Eleva, Wis., was sentenced to two years on probation after pleading no contest to a felony charge of failure to comply with sex offender registry rules. He was instructed to enter counseling and pay court costs.

  • Jonathon L. Smith, 19, of La Crosse, Wis., is scheduled to have a plea and sentencing hearing Feb. 19 on a misdemeanor theft charge in connection with an incident that happened in rural Galesville on July 13.

  • Grayham B. Jensen, 38, of Eau Claire, Wis., has a court conference Feb. 8 on a charge of disorderly conduct. The offense allegedly happened April 17 in Eleva, Wis. Jensen has pleaded not guilty.

  • Kenneth J. Rindal, 20, of Osseo, Wis., has an arraignment scheduled Feb. 5 on a felony charge of burglary. He’s accused of entering a garage in Osseo on Aug. 27. Police claim Rindal was looking for gasoline containers.

  • Timothy Hamilton, 24, of La Crosse, Wis., was fined $129.30 after pleading guilty to a county charge of writing a bad check, amended from a misdemeanor offense.

  • Timothy M. Ames, 54, of Chippewa Falls, Wis., was fined $129.30 after pleading guilty to a county charge of writing a bad check, amended from a misdemeanor offense.

  • Patrick J. Bautch, 21, of Whitehall, was fined $224 after pleading guilty to a charge of bail jumping.
