Pawlenty lends voice to group’s global warming campaign

ST. PAUL — Minnesota’s Tim Pawlenty is teaming up with Arizona’s governor for a national radio ad aimed at pressuring Congress to act swiftly on climate change.

The ad is paid for by the Environmental Defense Action Fund. The duo touts state action on energy and emissions issues and urges Congress to do more.
In the ad, Pawlenty says acting now could spur thousands of “enviro-friendly” jobs before international competitors seize that mantle.

Pawlenty has highlighted renewable energy in recent sessions of the Minnesota Legislature and in his role as chairman of the National Governors Association.

A spokesman for Environmental Defense says the ads are on the air in Washington this week and will spread to selected congressional districts across the country in coming weeks.
