Anita R. Orzechowski
Anita R. Orzechowski, 84, of Winona died Saturday, Nov. 3, 2007, at her home.
Anita was born in Winona on July 26, 1923, the daughter of Bernard and Ann (Guenther) Kostuck. She was united in marriage with Joseph P. Orzechowski on June 17, 1944, in Boise, Idaho; they celebrated 63 years of marriage this past June.
She was a member of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, its Sacred Heart Society, and a member of its choir for over 50 years. Anita was also a member of the Polish Heritage Society, Polish Museum, Harvest House, and the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Winona Court 191, where she had served as the past regent.
Anita worked for many years at Schultz Transit in Winona. She was an avid Green Bay Packers fan, along with her sons, and also was a loving mother and grandmother.
Anita is survived by her husband, Joseph of Winona; children, Jolean (Mike) Wegner of Wales, Wis., Tom Orzechowski of Florida, Gayle (Donald) Haack of Winona, John (Ann) Orzechowski of Minnesota City and David (Linda) Orzechowski of
St. Cloud, Minn.; grandchildren, Adam and Clark Wegner, Matthew Orzechowski, Jennifer, Jonathon, Joseph, and Jeffrey Haack, Paul and Jessica Orzechowski and Philip Orzechowski; great-grandchildren, Aiden and Nevaeh Orzechowski and Brayden Haack. She is also survived by a sister, Henrietta (Tess) Young of Winona; as well as other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a granddaughter, Christine Orzechowski; and a brother, Raymond Kostuck.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at noon Friday, Nov. 9, at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Winona. The Rev. Thomas J. Hargesheimer will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Friends may call Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Watkowski-Mulyck Funeral Home, where a Harvest House prayer service will be held at 6:30 p.m. A visitation will also be at the church Friday from 11 a.m. until the time of the Mass, where the Catholic Daughters will meet the body.
Pallbearers will be Anita’s grandsons, Adam Wegner, Clark Wegner, Jonathon Haack, Joseph Haack, Jeffrey Haack and Philip Orzechowski. Honorary pallbearers will be Matthew Orzechowski, Paul Orzechowski and Dick Modjeski.

CLINTON, Iowa — James F. Losinski, 85, of Clinton, died Oct. 28, 2007, at Mercy Medical Center, North Campus, Clinton.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 10, at Prince of Peace Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial will be at a later date at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Winona. Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
James Frank Losinski was born Feb. 10, 1922, in Winona, the son of Paul and Frances (Cisewski) Losinski. He married Ann V. Kotnour on May 8, 1948, in Winona; she died Feb. 17, 2005.
Jim was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Navy on the USS Hamilton as a sea plane tender.
Jim was a carman with the Chicago Northwestern Railroad for 32 years. After retiring, Jim enjoyed riding his motorcycle, flying radio-control air planes, woodworking and coin collecting. He was an active member of Sacred Heart Church (later Prince of Peace Parish) and was a 4th-degree Knights of Columbus. He and his wife were foster parents for Catholic Charities in Winona prior to their move to Clinton. He was a loving and supportive husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to those close to him.
Jim is survived by his daughter, Paula and her husband, Kevin Skonieczny of Freeport, Ill.; four grandchildren, John Skonieczny, Peter Skonieczny, Anna Skonieczny, and Paul Skonieczny; one brother, Robert Losinski of Green Bay; one sister, Grace O’Gara of West St. Paul; and by many nieces and nephews.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, two sisters and one brother.
The family requests that memorials be made to either the Knights of Columbus or the Prince of Peace building fund.

SPRING GROVE, Minn. — Virginia La Vonne (Moen) Oakes, 78, of Spring Grove passed away Monday, Nov. 5, 2007, at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse, Wis.
She was born Nov. 29, 1928, in Spring Grove to Odin and Viola (Miner) Moen. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church and was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Spring Grove.
She attended Black Hammer Country School and graduated from Spring Grove High School in 1946.
She married Harold N. Oakes Jr. on Sept. 20, 1947, and they continued to live in Spring Grove and raised a family of seven children.
Virginia’s passions included quilting, gardening, flowers and spending time with family and friends. She was known for her beautiful flower gardens, especially her irises.
She was a member of TLCW, Buds and Blossums Garden Club, Piecemakers Quilting, the American Legion Auxiliary, and a member of the local card club for 50 plus years.
Survivors include her sons, Russell (Donna) of Highlandville, Iowa, and their daughter, Melissa; DuWayne (fiance Julie) of Spring Grove, and his sons, Daniel (Jill) and Matthew; Jerald (Pat) and their children, Justine, Shannon and Sean of Spring Grove; Todd (Terri) and their children, Tyler, T.J. and Tanner of Jordan, Minn.
Survivors also include her daughters, Darlene (special friend, Marc), and her children Jeremy (fiance Jennifer) and Bryce of Spring Grove; Gloria (Jon) Speltz and their children, Harrison and Makena, also of Spring Grove; three special great-grandchildren, Danielle, Jason and Sawyer; and two stepgrandchildren, Ethan and Andrew.
She is further survived by four sisters, Thelma Branaugh of Yankton, S.D., Donna Otterness and Pat Tweito of Spring Grove, and Beverly Housker of Mabel, Minn.; also, two sisters-in-law, Mildred Moen of Spring Grove and Betty Moen of Becker, Minn.; and several special friends and neighbors.
She was preceeded in death by her husband, Harold; a daughter, Karen; grandson, Gus; and four brothers, Vernon, Chester, Tom and Stanley.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 9, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Spring Grove.
Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Roble Funeral Home in Spring Grove, and one hour prior to services at the church Friday.
Karen J. (Kratz) Levy
STOCKTON, Minn. — Karen J. (Kratz) Levy, 64, of Stockton died Monday, Nov. 5, 2007, at her home.
She was born May 25, 1943, in Fort Smith, Ark., the daughter of Claude and Violet (Schmidt) Kratz.
Karen was dearly loved, and will forever be remembered by her family and friends.
She is lovingly survived by her husband, Bob Levy; children, Kristen Schmaltz and Theodore (Teresa) Torgerson; stepchildren Steve Levy, Robert Levy and Michelle (Michael) Tubbesing; nine grandchildren; two brothers, Allyn (Ellen) Kratz and Wayne (Sandy) Kratz; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Stockton. The Rev. Jesse Krusemark will officiate.
Friends may call at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Stockton on Thursday from 1:30 p.m. until the time of the service.
