LEBANON, Ore. � Edward L. Plinski, 86, of Lebanon passed away Thursday, Nov. 1, 2007, at home. At his bedside was Irene, his beloved wife of 64 years and his family.
Ed was born in Fried, N.D., to Joseph and Frances Plinski. He attended schools in Winona.
Ed married Irene Praxel of Winona on March 4, 1943.
He joined the Civilian Conservation Corps in 1937. He received an honorable discharge March 26, 1941.
Ed enlisted in the Army, July 22, 1942. He received an honorable discharge June 6, 1945. While in the Army, during a night patrol, Ed was wounded and lost his leg.
While in the military service, he received the following citations: Purple Heart, Combat Infantryman Badge, Good Conduct Ribbon, European-African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon and a Bronze Campaign Star.
Ed and his family moved to Lebanon, Ore., in June 1955. He worked for Lebanon Electric until 1969, when he and his wife founded Star Electric Motor Service Inc. The company has grown over the years to four service centers, two in Lebanon, one in Corvallis, one in Salem and a northwest distribution center for a European motor line. The company has been run by his sons since his retirement.
The most important things in Ed’s life were his family and keeping his family together. In his passing, we have lived his dream and we are all together.
Those who knew him remember him as an independent person who never gave up.
Our father did everything possible to give us the best life; he never missed a thing. He took us hunting, camping, on many summer vacations, and gave us much love and support.
Edward was preceded in death by his mother and father; brothers John, Bill, Walter and Joseph; and
sisters Harriet and Margaret.
Edward is survived by his wife, Irene; sons, Edward K. and Karen, Tom and wife Kathy, Gary and wife Vicki, and Richard, all of Lebanon, Ore.; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brother Robert of Winona; sisters, Phyllis and Patricia of Winona; and Grace of Prescott, Ariz.
Viewing will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today, Nov. 5, at Huston-Jost Funeral Home in Lebanon, Ore. Recitation of the rosary will begin at
7 p.m. today at the funeral home. A funeral mass will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 6, at St. Edward’s Catholic Church in Lebanon, Ore. Burial will be at Providence Cemetery near Scio, Ore., with military honors by America Legion Posts 51 and 10.

RED WING, Minn. � Alice Elizabeth Schoeder, 88, of Red Wing died Sunday, Nov. 4, 2007, at her home.
She was born Nov. 29, 1918, in River Falls, Wis., to Joseph and Elizabeth (Spiedel) Fischer.
She attended schools in the River Falls area.
She married Gilbert Hanson April 18, 1934, and they farmed near Maiden Rock, Wis., for many years. He died July 17, 1959.
On Jan. 12, 1962, she married Joseph Schoeder, and they moved to Lakeside, Calif., where she worked in the house cleaning business.
They moved back to Arkansaw, Wis., in 1973.
Joseph died June 3, 1988. Alice then lived in Menomonie, Downsville and Lake City, prior to moving to Red Wing in 2006.
She was a member of First Baptist Church in Durand and enjoyed cooking, baking and visiting with family and friends.
Survivors include four children, Irene (Byron) Wohlers of Lake City, Minn., Carol (Butch) Litscher of Fountain City, Wis., Jerry (Edwina) Hanson of Augusta, Wis., and Vikki (Roger) Braker of Menomonie; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; special friend, Hugh Andrews of Durand, Wis.; one sister, Ruth Thompson of Shell Lake, Wis.; three brothers, Floyd Fischer of River Falls, Walter (Alice) Fischer of Red Wing and Emil (Marion) Fischer of St. Paul; nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her husbands; five brothers; two grandsons, Ken Adams and Aaron Litscher; and one great-granddaughter, Jackie Lane.
Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at United Methodist Church in Maiden Rock, with the Rev. Dan Stanley officiating. Burial will be in Maiden Rock Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel, and one hour prior to the time of services Wednesday at the church.
Pallbearers will be Christopher, Anthony and Brian Wempner, Alex Wohlers, Brady Adams and Ethan Rybarczyk.

Mrs. Catherine M. Shikonya, died Sunday, Nov. 4, 2007, at St. Anne Extended Healthcare.
She was born and raised in Pine City, Minn. She resided in Winona the past 25 years.
On June 26, 1950, she was united in marriage to Joseph Shikonya of Ely, Minn., at Pine City.
Catherine was a retired public schools teacher. She graduated from the Pine City High School and then from Duluth State Teacher’s College, Duluth, Minn.
The only survivor is her son, Joseph E. of Onalaska, Wis. Her husband, parents and one brother have preceded her in death.
A memorial Mass to celebrate her life will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov, 7, at St. Anne Extended Healthcare, with the Rev. Robert Stamschror officiating.
Interment at a later date will be in the Ely Cemetery, Ely, Minn.

WHITEHALL, Wis. � Alvin O. Franson, 84, of Whitehall died Saturday, Nov. 3, 2007, at Tri-County Memorial Nursing Home in Whitehall.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, at Grace Lutheran Church, Pleasantville.
Burial will be at a later date in Bruce Valley Cemetery, rural Strum.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Jack Funeral Home in Whitehall and also one hour prior to the services Thursday at the church.

ETTRICK, Wis. � Irene Mari Hegland, 91, of Ettrick died Friday, Nov. 2, 2007, at Marinuka Manor, Galesville, Wis.
A funeral Mass will be offered at noon Saturday, Nov. 10, at St. Bridget’s Catholic Church, Ettrick. Burial will follow in St. Bridget’s Catholic Cemetery, Ettrick.

Charles Kieth Millam, 98, of Winona died Saturday, Nov. 3, 2007, at Alterra Sterling House, Winona.
He was born July 26, 1909, in Winona.
He married Josephine M. Martin, who is deceased. He had three children.
Memorial services will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7, at McKinley United Methodist Church in Winona. Private interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
