Beverly Frances Cieminski Wos
MINNESOTA CITY, Minn. — Beverly Frances Cieminski Wos, 83, of Minnesota City, died Monday, Oct. 22, 2007, at her home.
Beverly was born May 17, 1924, in Winona, to Joseph John and Renalda (Maroushek) Cieminski.
She married George Walter Wos on Jan. 12, 1943; they were later divorced.
Beverly’s sparkling personality, mischievous sense of humor and intense loyalty will be missed very much by her family and friends.
Extremely independent and far younger than her years, Beverly enjoyed living at home, watching old romantic movies with her beloved kitty cats. She treasured time with her family and insisted on being called “Nonny” because she didn’t want her grandchildren to think of her as an “old grandma.”
She especially enjoyed her time with her children and grandchildren, holiday get-togethers, weddings and graduations, trips to Florida, batter-fried shrimp and walleye dinners, barbeques on the river and car trips to pick autumn apples. She also enjoyed time with her friends, quiet luncheons and suppers with friends or shopping trips looking for bargains.
Beverly grew up in Winona and had fond memories, especially of Midnight Masses at St. Stan’s at Christmas time.
As a young adult, Beverly loved dancing, roller skating and bowling; she talked often of the dance and skating halls throughout the region. She loved her early adult years, living on Prairie Island next to the Mississippi River, raising her family and tending to the mink farm. She also enjoyed her years at the Randall’s Grocery Store Bakery before her retirement.
Recently, she had celebrated her 20th year with the Eagles Club and always enjoyed their annual mother-daughter banquets.
She was a kind and generous person, gladly taking in stray relatives and animals. But, above all, Beverly treasured her family and friends.
Beverly is survived by a daughter, Cheryl “Cheri” Davis of Winona; two sons, George (Carol) Wos of Colton, Wash., and Gerald (Deborah) Wos of Fall Creek, Wis.; 11 grandchildren: Cristi Traver of Santa Barbara, Calif., Pamela Traver of Sunnyvale, Calif., David Russell of Winona, Timothy Russell of Winona, Patrick Davis of Winona, Kristalynn Aarnio of Minneapolis, Sam Wos of Colton, Bridget Wos of Colton, Nicole (Parker) German of Hudson, Wis., Cassaundra Wos of Fall Creek, Wis., and Jessica Wos of Fall Creek, Wis.; and one great-grandchild, Cassie Traver of Santa Barbara.
She is also survived by five brothers, Gerry (Audrey) Cieminski of Homer, Minn., Leroy Cieminski of Winona, Gene (Marlene) Cieminski of Mesa, Ariz., Donald (Pat) Cieminski of Minneapolis, and Alan (Dianne) Cieminski of Florida; two sisters, Marie Duerkop of Phoenix and Dolores Brink of Mount Prospect, Ill.; her three kitties; as well as other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Bonnalynn Kramer; and brother, Kenneth Cieminski.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at noon on Friday, Oct. 26, at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church with the Rev. Thomas J. Hargesheimer officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Winona.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. until the time of the Mass on Friday, Oct. 26, at St. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Church.
