NELSON, Wis. — Bernice V. Schlosser, 85, of Nelson died Oct. 13, 2007, at Pepin Manor.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church of Nelson. Burial will follow in Nelson Cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to services on Wednesday at the church.

BLAIR, Wis. — Wayne G. Herried, 51, died Oct. 13, 2007, at Franciscan Skemp Healthcare, La Crosse, Wis.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Lutheran Church, Blair. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery, Blair.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Jack Funeral Home, Blair, and from 10 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the church.

SPRING GROVE, Minn. — Roger Lorrale Aske, 79, of Spring Grove died Oct. 12, 2007, at Green Lea Manor in Mabel, Minn.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Spring Grove. Burial will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Spring Grove.
Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the church.

Feb. 15, 1923 — Oct. 11, 2007
Allen W. Whetstone, 84, of Minnesota City, Minn., passed away Thursday, Oct. 11, 2007, at St. Marys Hospital, Rochester, Minn.
Allen Ward was born Feb. 15, 1923, in Minnesota City to Henry and Alvina (Denzer) Whetstone. On March 29, 1942, he married Dorothy Betz and she preceded him in death in September 1968. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1944-1946 as a construction machine operator in the Philippines and Japan.
He owned and operated his own road grader and was formerly employed at Brach’s (Schuler’s) Candy, Gamble Robinson and Winona Park and Rec., which he retired from in 2003. He enjoyed farming, gardening and playing all kinds of cards.
Allen was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Winona, Winona Elks #327, Red Men’s Club, Oddfellows Lodge #24 and a life member of VFW.
Allen is survived by three children, Bruce (Nancy) Whetstone, Mazeppa, Minn, Brian (Mary) Whetstone, Oakdale, Minn., and Kathleen (Patrick) Theisen, Indianapolis, Ind.; a very special companion, Delores Irmscher; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a son, William P. in May 2001; and two brothers, Glenn and Donald.
Funeral services for Allen will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 15, at Fawcett-Junker Funeral Home, Winona, with the Rev. William Flesch officiating. Interment will be at Oakland Cemetery, Minnesota City, Minn.
Veterans burial rites will be provided by the VFW Neville-Lien Post 1287, Winona, Minn.
Visitation will be 3 to 6 p.m. today at Fawcett-Junker Funeral Home, Winona and Monday beginning at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home.

Ida Marie Nelson
Jan. 10, 1952 — Oct. 5, 2007
NELSON, Wis. — Ida Marie Nelson, 55, of Nelson died Friday, Oct. 5, 2007, at her residence.
She was born on Jan. 10, 1952, in Albert Lea, Minn., to the late Oscar and Gladys (Evanson) Gulbranson.
She worked for many years at Land-O-Lakes, the Union Center and also the VFW.
Ida raised her family in Albert Lea, residing there for 42 years. She then relocated to Nelson and bought a bar, the Top Hat. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and American Legion, both of Wabasha. She attended Grace Lutheran Church of Nelson.
It is here that she would live out the remainder of her days. Ida will be greatly missed and will be remembered as an inspiration to all who knew her.
Ida is survived by her three children, Troy, Sheila and Richard Nelson; five grandchildren; one brother, Marvin Gulbranson of Albert Lea; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Gladys Gulbranson.
A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 15, at the Talbot Family Funeral Home, Alma chapel, with the Rev. Michael Vetsch officiating. It was the wish of Ida to be cremated. Her cremains will be buried in Nelson Cemetery at a later date.

Louise Bell
March 2, 1922 — Oct.12, 2007
Louise Bell, 85, of Winona died Friday, Oct. 12, 2007, at Saint Anne Extended Healthcare, Winona.
Louise was born March 2, 1922, in Woodburn, Iowa, to Guy and Neva (Jones) Heston. She graduated from Simpson College, Indianola, Iowa, and taught in a one-room school house in Woodburn before moving to San Francisco, Calif.
On Feb. 25, 1946, she married Gene Bell in San Francisco. They moved back to the Midwest and settled in Winona in 1957, where she worked with and helped her husband at TradeHome Shoes, Winona, until their retirement. During retirement, one of her greatest joys was traveling the United States for four and a half years in the travel trailer. She was a member of McKinley United Methodist Church, Winona.
She is survived by her husband, Gene, Winona; a daughter, Bonnie (John) Ruben, Winona; a son, Dennis (Rocky Haddorff) Bell, Lanesboro, Minn.; three grandchildren, Mike (LeRoy Schmitz) Ruben, Sara Ruben and Andrew Ruben; two sisters, Anne (Jim) Kerns, Chariton, Iowa, and Betty Sue Heston, Osceola, Iowa; a sister-in-law, Louise Heston, Ottumwa, Iowa; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Phil and June Bell, Cody, Wyo.; and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Floyd and Bob; a brother in infancy, Harold; and a sister-in-law, Jo Heston.
Services to remember Louise will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 16, at McKinley United Methodist Church, Winona, with the Rev. Kathleen Zielinski officiating. Placement of the urn in the niche will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Winona.
Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Fawcett-Junker Funeral Home, Winona, and at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church.

Martha B. Bunge
Oct. 20, 1909 — Oct. 11, 2007
EITZEN, Minn. n Martha B. Bunge, 97, of Eitzen, Minn., passed away Thursday, Oct. 11, 2007 at Caledonia Care and Rehab.
She was born Oct. 20, 1909, in Verdi, Minn., to Henry and Emma (Heitman) Fruechte. Martha attended schools in Iowa and then attended one year of agricultural school at the University of Minnesota in St. Paul. From 1932 until 1939, she worked in Rochester, Minn., at the home of Dr. and Mrs. William Mayo. On Aug. 10, 1944, she married Herman Bunge at St. Luke’s United Church of Christ in Eitzen and they enjoyed over 63 years of marriage.
Martha enjoyed researching geneology and keeping the records for the church cemetery. She was a faithful member of St. Luke’s United Church of Christ in Eitzen where she taught Sunday school. Martha was also a member of the 4 Corners Homemaker’s Group.
Survivors include her loving husband, Herman of Eitzen; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Martha was preceded in death by her parents; her 4-year-old son, Edward Herman Bunge; three brothers, Elmer, John and Franklin Fruechte; and four sisters, Lora Pieper, Alice Bunge, Irma Anderson and one in infancy.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 15, at St. Luke’s United Church of Christ, Eitzen. The Rev. Kent A. Meyer, Ph.D., and the Rev. Debra A. Meyer will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call at St. Luke’s United Church of Christ from 2 until 4 p.m. today and from 1 p.m. until the time of service Monday. Haugen-Roble-Jandt Funeral Home, Caledonia, is in charge of arrangements.
