Homecoming parade planned for Saturday

.
Winona State University will celebrate its 2007 homecoming Saturday, kicking off an 18-month celebration of its Sesquicentennial.

The homecoming parade begins at 10 a.m. and travels along Huff Street, beginning at Broadway and proceeding to Mark Street, ending in the Washington Street parking lots. Parade lineup begins at 9 a.m. on Broadway, from Huff Street to Grand Street.
Immediately following the parade, participants and all community members are invited to attend WSU’s Sesquicentennial Community Picnic in the main courtyard of the WSU campus from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The picnic lunch is free and open to the public.

The homecoming football game starts at 1 p.m. on Maxwell Field at Alltel Stadium, where the Warriors play Concordia, St. Paul.

After the game, the WSU Warrior Club will host its 15th annual sports auction at 4 p.m., in the Kryzsko Commons Solarium. Attendees can bid on show and sports tickets, travel packages, sports collectibles, electronics, gift certificates and gift baskets that have been donated to the WSU Athletic Department. Proceeds benefit the Winona State Athletic Program.

" How did Megan Dwyer ever get Homecoming Queen? Is the world ending? "

" Bob, that's just not fair. I'm a student here in Winona, and I take serious offense to your comment. I understand that there are a probably a few kids here who might have made a negative impression, but there a lot more kids that go to their classes every single day and are here to make a difference; here to make something of themselves. College is too expensive these days to spend it "high" and "urinating the entire way" through. I'm sorry you feel the need to send us all away. I hope for your sake, to minimize your WSU student contact, that you won't one day need the help of one of Winona's future doctors or have to meet with one of future teachers for your child's parent teacher conference. "

How about an aid station? wrote on Sep 28, 2007 12:57 PM:

" Like LaCrosse does? It is a makeshift building set up where you can go and complain if a drunk pukes on you, make phone calls, or other such things. "

" sounds like a lot of drinking!!! "

Question wrote on Sep 28, 2007 8:34 AM:

" Will drinking be allowed along the parade route? "

Bob Townee wrote on Sep 28, 2007 1:16 AM:

" And they'll all be walking around drunk and high and probably urinating the entire way. I don't know why the city lets these good for nothing kids get away with whatever they want. They are all pretty worthless. We should shut down the colleges. We don't need them here. We are a much better town without them. "
