Margaret J. Goetzinger

CALEDONIA/FREEBURG, Minn. — Margaret J. Goetzinger, 89, of Caledonia and formerly of Freeburg, died Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2007, at Caledonia Care and Rehab, Caledonia.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Evangelical Church of Peace, Crooked Creek Township. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Friends may call at Haugen-Roble-Jandt Funeral Home, 518 West Main St., Caledonia, from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday and also from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the church Friday.

Jack Sullivan

Aug. 5, 1931 — Sept. 25, 2007

WABASHA, Minn. — Jack B. Sullivan, 76, of Wabasha died Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2007, peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born Aug. 5, 1931, in Opheim, Mont., the son of Robert and Bertha (Talbott) Sullivan. He moved to Wabasha in 1957. He married Jean M. Reinhardt on Nov. 23, 1957, in Durand, Wis.

Jack served in the U.S. Army from 1952-54 with a tour of duty during the Korean War. He was employed as a civilian with the 544th U.S. Army Reserve in Wabasha and the 360th Unit at Fort Snelling in St. Paul. He was a loving husband, caring father and a proud Papa of his grandchildren. A few of his hobbies included watching the Minnesota Twins; reading books, especially collecting old B. M. Bower books; and traveling in the camper to numerous casinos with Missy, their Boston Terrier right by his side. He also enjoyed serving as a Guardian Angel at the Wabasha Clinic and St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center.

Jack is survived by his wife, Jean Sullivan of Wabasha; children and spouses, Debbie and Andy Schouweiler of Wabasha, Vicki and Kyle Dillard of Jacksonville, Fla., Steve and Jackie Sullivan of Cannon Falls, Minn.; four grandchildren, Megan and Trevor Sullivan and Eric and Taylor Dillard; sister and brother-in-law, Patty and Hap Baldwin of Dallas, Ore.; and nieces and nephews. His parents; one brother, Robert Sullivan; and one sister, Helen Wade, preceded him in death.

A memorial service will be held Friday, Sept. 28, at 11 a.m. at Kellogg United Methodist Church with the Revs. Deanna Woodward and Lyle Krumrie officiating. Interment will be in Nelson Cemetery in Nelson, Wis. The Wabasha American Legion Post 50 and the Burkhardt-Roemer VFW Post 4086 will perform military rites.

Friends may call at the Abbott Funeral Home in Wabasha on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. and at the church on Friday one hour before the service.

Mary Ann (Lyons) Elias

May 7, 1943 — Sept. 22, 2007

HASTINGS, Minn. — Mary Ann (Lyons) Elias, 64, of Hastings and formerly of Farmington, Minn, died peacefully and went home to our Lord on Saturday, Sept. 22, 2007. She courageously fought pancreatic cancer throughout the last year.

The youngest of four children, Mary was born May 7, 1943, by aid of a midwife on the family farm in Plainview, Minn. She graduated high school in 1961, raised her family in Farmington and was employed at Burlington Northern Sante Fe Railroad for 33 years. After retiring in 2003, Mary spent her winters in Harlingen, Texas, and her summers in Cambridge, Minn.

Mary loved life. She enjoyed traveling, playing cards, bingo, dancing, attending country jamborees and selling novelties as a vendor at festivals, parades and car shows. Mary was known for her ability to speak up when things weren’t right, she generously lent a hand when someone needed it and she also let those who needed to stand on their own do so. She had a beautiful smile, a wonderful laugh and a sincere heart. She will be greatly missed by so many.

Preceded in death by her mother, Helen (Tentis) and father, Paul Lyons; sister, Betty Ross of Glenwood, Iowa; godchild and niece, Valerie (Ross) Kelly of Freemont, Neb. Followed in death by eldest brother, Jim Lyons (formerly of Skokie, Ill.) who died suddenly Sept. 23, 2007, while enjoying his retirement in Las Vegas. She is survived by children, Brenda (Dennis) Wieber of Hastings, Jason Elias of Champlin, Minn.; grandchildren, Krista and Kelly Moeller of Rosemount, Minn., Alexis, Morriah and Hieu Kovar of Champlin; brother, Joe Lyons of Tucson, Ariz.; four nieces, one nephew, their families and many friends.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Sept. 29, at 10 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2035 15th St. W, Hastings, with visitation one hour prior to the service at church. Visitation will be Friday, Sept. 28, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Wise Family Funeral Home, 400 Spring St., Hastings, (651) 437-3752. Interment to follow funeral service at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Cemetery in Hastings.

The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses and staff from MOPHA, Allina Homecare & Hospice, Augustana Care Center of Hastings and Our Lady of Good Counsel Cancer Home for the excellent care they gave.
