“You never know until you try and if you don’t try, you can’t gripe,” Moreland said. “I didn’t spend very much time or money, but, what the heck, it was interesting.”
Well, I am glad it didn’t cost him much time or money, but I just want him to understand that it did cost all the precincts involved in this primary a lot of time and money, which would not have been needed if he would have withdrawn once his party nominated someone else. Perhaps Moreland does not understand how many people need to be involved in elections, including primaries.
I think it is great that citizens want to get involved in government, but in this case I do believe that anyone who wants to run for public office should at least show enough interest to be in the country for the limited campaign time available for this election. But, “what the heck,” it was interesting for Moreland — not so much for those of us who spent 13 hours at our polling places waiting for voters to come.
