WSHS, WSU grad to coach UW-Green Bay women's basketball team

.
The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay decided to choose one of Winona’s own as its newest women’s basketball coach.

Matt Bollant, a 1989 graduate of Winona Senior High School and 1994 alum of Winona State University, became the third coach in school history Monday, according to a press release from the school.
He replaces Kevin Borseth, who left Green Bay after nine season to coach at Michigan.

“I am thrilled for the opportunity to be the head coach here at UW-Green Bay,” said Bollant in the press release. “I hope to continue the high level of excellence the team has had here, and I can't wait to get started building for the future.”

Bollant spent the past five seasons coaching the Lady Lions of Bryan College in Dayton, Tenn. Bollant compiled at 134-38 record in that span and got the Lady Lions into the NAIA tournament each of the last four seasons.

UW-Green Bay have become a perrenial power in the Horizon League under Borseth, and finished 29-4 last season. The Phoenix had their nation-high 26-game winning streak snapped in the second round of the NCAA Tournament by heavily-favored Connecticut .
