But these individuals will receive more than a bag of presents; they will take home the knowledge that someone in the community cares.
This year about 1,400 people have asked for holiday help through Saint Mary’s University Gifts for Winona.
For the past four years, our community has shown in abundance how much it cares. Because of your enormously generous hearts, we have been able to give everyone in need a present to brighten their holidays.
But this year may be different. Our gift exchange is about one week away and hundreds of tags are left.
My heart breaks when I imagine a person who has faced a difficult year coming in and leaving empty-handed.
Tags will remain on trees at the three Wells Fargo Bank locations, at the three Severson Food Plus locations, at the Winona Public Library and at Scrapper’s Haven until early next week. Kmart and ShopKo also will have trees from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. today. Please consider picking up a tag and purchasing a present this weekend for someone less fortunate.
As time is running out, money is also needed. Please consider donating to Saint Mary’s University Gifts for Winona. Share the spirit of giving with those who need it most.
