Ron Ganrude, Winona County chief deputy, said investigators learned of two thefts last week with ties to Houston County.
A woman on Winona County Road 13 south of Ridgeway reported Wednesday that her garage and home were entered and magazines, binoculars, video games and $40 in cash stolen. On Friday, two men reported their Winona County cabin broken into, and a .22-caliber rifle, a pellet gun, a laptop computer, a spotlight, two walkie-talkies and a hunting knife missing.
Ganrude said investigators found the cabin door kicked in and recovered the pellet gun and computer a mile from the cabin in a road ditch.
The Houston County Sheriff's Department last week arrested two males, a 17- and 18-year-old from Rushford, and questioned and released them. One suspect is charged with violating probation in Winona County, said Houston County Sheriff Chief Deputy Ken Frank.
Fillmore County Sheriff investigator Phil Whitacre said there is a "strong possibility" two burglaries there last week are connected to those in Houston and Winona counties.
Ganrude said he expects charges to be filed this week against the suspects.
